The New European Bauhaus Local Initiatives program offers support to small and medium sized cities in the European Union, promoting the transformation and adaptation of our cities and fostering the three complementary values of aesthetics, sustainability and inclusivity.
The New European Bauhaus movement is an EU-initiative with the ambition of testing, implementing and rolling out new methods for designing beautiful, sustainable and inclusive places across all Europe, making the European Green Deal a cultural, human-centered, positive and tangible experience. The Local Initiative supports 20 small and medium sized cities across Europe (less than 100k inhabitants) in (re)designing urban spaces towards a beautiful, sustainable and inclusive future. Backscatter draws on its experience in digital community engagement to foster a human-centered, data-driven and participatory approach in urban development. An analysis that utilises different forms of digital media to map, monitor, and trace people’s behaviour and patterns of movement in selected areas of Copenhagen.
Together with the youth organization SAGA, we mobilise young adults to produce knowledge on their interests, concerns, habits, and values. We do that through a new form of digitally-mediated, participatory, direct engagement in Backscatter's app Our Walk.
